Full-time experienced Groom or Groom/Rider required for a family thoroughbred stud with a small high-level event yard located approximately 10 miles south of Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.

We are looking for someone reliable, and enthusiastic with a good work ethic to join this small established team caring for mares, foals, youngstock, and event horses.

The ideal person will be able to carry out all yard duties to a high standard, working well within the team. Someone who can follow instructions, but also work alone when required using their own initiative.

The current team works weekends on a rota basis and at present that works out as every other weekend off usually.

Car driver essential due to the location. A local person who can commute would be preferred however there is accommodation if required for the right person.

The Position:

  • All yard duties to a high standard
  • Riding a variety of horses hacking only
  • Lunging and Long reining
  • Handling Mares, foals, and youngstock on the ground-prepping for sales, etc
  • Clipping, plaiting, trimming etc
  • Preparing horses for travel-bandaging etc
  • Unloading and cleaning the horsebox at times

The Person:

  • Reliable, punctual, enthusiastic, and passionate about horses
  • Organised and thorough
  • Able to maintain high standards in the yard
  • Will have the horse's welfare as their priority
  • A good rider who is happy hacking fit competition horses
  • Experienced with handling a variety of horses on the ground including mares, foals, and youngstock
  • Will have excellent turnout skills clipping, plaiting, and sales prep.
  • A non-rider who is a first-class groom will be considered

A good salary will be offered to the successful person who can provide fully checkable references.
