I run a livery yard with capacity for 45 stabled horses and additional grass liveries. There are full liveries, assisted and DIY. As well as the livery we offer veterinary livery for rehab and some training livery (anything from backing,
schooling, selling to remedial, behavioural, retraining. Ridden and groundwork) when we have the space.
I also have a small sports pony stud. I have broodmares, young stock and a stallion. I breed a small number of ponies every year, usually by AI. This is something I am looking to increase and have foaling down service and stallion collection facilities in the long term.
The main work for the apprentice will include mucking out, yard work such has sweeping and filling hay nets, bringing in and turning out a variety of horses, rug changing and helping with general yard duties and maintenance.
I can offer guidance on training horses from the ground, lessons with fully qualified instructors, stud work and production of young stock in preparation of grading and fatuity evaluations

Duties will include

• Turning out/bringing in
• Tack cleaning
• Tacking up

• Holding for vet/farrier/dentist/AI
• Youngstock and broodmare handling, some contact with stallion if

I can offer these things but not all essential for the job. I’m happy to involve you in the breeding side and riding if you would like. I also have a horse transport business which we currently have a 3.5t lorry for so there is an
option of learning to drive the lorry as well.
