GROOMS JOBS BOARD

We are a new small yard offering premium full livery services and we are looking for our live in head groom at our base between Sherborne & Wincanton, Somerset.

We are looking for someone who is hardworking, with a good sense of humor and a real love for happy horses.

You will be in charge of the day to day running of the yard, with assistance from part time help. We have a maximum of 12 stables & 2 pens which will include a mix of owners horses, youngstock & full 7 day liveries.

We have recently renovated our yard to a high standard, with new well thought out facilities. We have invested in tools & supplies to make yard life easier for our grooms, like electric wheelbarrows, running warm water & automatic drinkers.

You will be a highly valued member of our team, and your input towards the running of the yard would always be greatly welcomed. One of our owners has previously worked as a groom, so understands the challenges the industry can bring.

We've improved our infrastructure to keep mud to a minimum, for both staff and horses - making for an easier day's work all round!

We like our horses to be horses, so we make every effort to accommodate them as best as we can within a ridden working environment - and we would love our groom to focus on & enjoy this too.

5.5 days per week (to include 1 weekend day), 8 hours per day (7.30-5.30 with generous break times).

Super cute 2 bedroom cottage (sole use) included & pets, partners & own horse welcome (fee to be discussed).

Other equestrian businesses on site, so potential to learn, train & grow in other parts of the industry at the same time.

1.5 pay on bank holidays & annual performance bonus.

Salary & benefits package £25-30k per annum.

Duties will include:

- Feeding

- Mucking out & poo picking

- Turning out

- Rug changes & feet picking

- Grooming & fussing!

- Lunging & exercising (riding not necessary)

- Keeping the yard tidy & smart

- Applying therapy devices to horses

- Handling horses for vets/farriers/physios etc

- General yard & grounds maintenance

Both owners work & live on site, so there is plenty going on & help at hand.
