We are on the countdown to the FEI World Equestrian Games in Tryon, USA and in the second of his WEG blogs Team GBR dressage #supergroom and BGA member and Ambassador Alan Davies is on the road.

"After what seems like a never ending amount of paperwork we are actually on the road and on our way to the FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG).

It is really exciting but there are a lot of official rules and regulations involved for travelling to USA, which of course we must follow. Just before travelling our vet filled out the horses health papers which then have to be counter signed by another Ministry vet, declaring us fit to travel.

The horses have been kept in their normal routine. On Saturday I took them both for a long hack and they also had an hour in the field. On Sunday Carl and Charlotte gave them a light stretch as this was the last time they get to ride them at home.

Once they had finished I put the tack in the trunks, did the final checks and got them ready for loading. Mark Perry picked Del, Freestyle and myself up in the early hours of Monday, we then went to pick up Super Nova on the way to get the train. From there we are driving to Liege Airport, where Emile's horse is meeting me.

It's a real treat being driven as I usually do all the driving, but our lorry needs to be at home to get ready for the Nationals which start the day after I get back!

As there is only one place for a Team GB dressage groom on the flight I have been voted on to take care of all four horses. I will be able to walk them Monday night and Tuesday morning before getting them all bandaged ready for the flight to America.

It's a huge responsibility having everyone's horses but I have spoken to all the grooms and riders to find out what they all like and don't like and the grooms have all written long lists of everything I need to know.

We've got three horses on the team who haven't flown before so we are relying on Neville (Super Nova) to show them how it's done! I am looking forward to seeing my Team GBR groom mates, Claire, Lucy and Sebastian who are all flying ahead to meet me there.

I'm going to catch a nap now while we drive to the airport. More later..."
