A Touch of normality

The FEI World Equestrian Games in Tryon, USA are upon us as we catch up with #supergroom and BGA member and Ambassador Alan Davies direct from WEG, in his fifth blog.

Today was all about getting back to normal. It was lovely to get to the barn to feed the horses and not be restricted by all the quarantine regulations.

They all looked very happy in their new surroundings and all happily ate their breakfasts. We then gave them a quick stroll before getting everything organised for the riders to arrive.

It was also lovely to be able to now catch up with all my friends who were all out of quarantine now from different countries. I have been traveling with horses for many years now, this is my fourth WEG and I was actually at the very first WEG in Stockholm in 1990!

In that time I have made some amazing friends, we sometimes don't see each other very often but those friendships last forever. Robbie who takes care of Blue Hors Zack and Vanessa who takes care of Glocks Zonik are two of my greatest friends, so it was great to catch up with them.

The horses had a bit of light work and Carl and Charlotte were both pleased with how they felt, which was good. They then had a session with the team Physio Rachel Greatham.

Del and Freestyle both get regular check ups from our home physio, Marnie Campbell, who has been with us a long time. Team physio Rachel works closely with Marnie so that the horses get the right work for their individual needs.

We left them in peace to have their lunch while we went for a little exploration of the huge show ground, which takes some navigation. Happy to report all is good and we are all settling well.

Will be back with more news soon…
