A GROOMS LIFE BLOG

Onwards and Upwards

Onwards and upwards...

Wednesday

Wednesday was a break from the dressage competition. The jumpers started their competition so luckily we got to watch, which is always amazing to see precision jumping at Championship level! I've known Lesley for ages (pictured) and she is always very supportive of the dressage grooms so it was lovely to catch up.

Our horses still needed a leg stretch and a hack as they’ve still got two days of competition to go.

We also do a lot of hand walking to keep them happy. When our horses are at home they have a lot of turnout so it is always good to let them stretch their legs as often as possible.

And as the GP Special was going to be under lights on Thursday everyone was given a time slot on Wednesday night to acclimatise to the lights.

During the day the riders had a chance to go and visit the Van Olst stables to see the youngsters and the stallions. Luckily no one bought anything, so we don’t have to squeeze another one on the truck on the way home!

Thursday

As the class was at night Thursday was quite a long day. It was our job to keep the horses relaxed and happy all day without over fussing them to make sure they conserved energy for the GP Special. It must have worked as they all went really well.

The jumpers had a good day too so the whole aisle way was buzzing with excitement.

A late night but worth it…
