Beth is about to head off to the FEI World Championships together with #supergroom Sue Keates Robinson, make sure you stay up to date with everything you need to know about the Championships with the British Equestrian Online Hub.

We caught up with Beth to find out what it takes to be a successful #Supergroom.

Where did it all start for you?

I have been riding my whole life, as a child I was a member of the Grove Hunt Pony Club and later became a dressage rider. That’s when I met Sophie who introduced me to professional grooming, I became Sophie’s travelling groom, it was my pleasure to make sure the horses boarded safely at the airport for both Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

What is great about working in dressage?

Most of my horsey life I have been a keen competitor for jumping. I found circles boring, and my mum used to tell me off. But now I find dressage the most beautiful discipline we have. I’ve been within the dressage world for 6 years now, and still get emotional after every test of Sophie’s I watch.

Being part of para dressage is even more special, appreciating the riders and their horses are just next level bond, I love the relationship and trust.

What is your secret to success?

I think having a passion for what you do and having pride in your work is the main thing. On a daily basis I feel extremely fortunate to do what I do.

What is the best advice someone has given you?

My mum is one of my closest friends and she once said to ‘give it your all’ which has stuck with me forever.
I want to give 100% for everything I do. Even when things are challenging, so long as I’ve tried my best, I know I’ve succeeded.

What does it feel like to be heading off to the World Championships?

Ah, it’s super exciting. The squad are a great bunch of riders and horses, I feel so fortunate to be part of the para family.

Well done Beth.
