I have been around horses for longer than I care to remember (40+ years) starting off, as many did, helping out at the local riding school. From there I progressed to grooming, schooling and competing some of the liveries. I was a member of Warlingham Pony Club for many years learning the art and skill of horse care and stable management in a way that would frighten most off these days. The thought of thatching under a jute rug or lugging canvas New Zealand rugs across knee deep fields still lingers in my memory.
I have owned a dressage pony for 24 years which I initially backed and schooled for my daughter. It was not her thing but he stayed with me and after being expelled from a riding school (oops) has had several riders over the years who competed him in SJ, XC and dressage. His pinnacle was to attend Petplan National Championship and he was part of the BYRDS Inter-Regional and Senior Home International teams for British Dressage Southern Region.
Although I rarely ride myself anymore, I enjoy working from the ground (lungeing and long-reining, etc.) and still love the stable management and horse care side of things and am happy carrying out the most menial of yard duties to a very high standard (I'm sure I was born attached to a broom!).
Clipping and show preparation/turnout is my speciality.
I am licensed to tow both a trailer and drive a 7.5t lorry.
I also have an Ifor Williams HB505 available for hire on a self-tow basis (Terms and Conditions will apply).
