A GROOMS LIFE BLOG

Hurrah! All back together!

We are on the countdown to the FEI World Equestrian Games in Tryon, USA and in the fourth of his popular WEG blogs #supergroom and BGA member and Ambassador Alan Davies and team have arrived at the showground.

Quarantine restrictions were lifted at 3.30pm and all of the Team GBR dressage grooms went in together to collect the horses.

I’m so relieved to have everyone together again, and I don't have to wear a plastic all in one overall in this stifling heat. Very fetching!

The horses have been so good coping with the quarantine restrictions. We walked them across the show grounds to the team stables which were set up by the support crew and my fellow team mates Lucy, Claire and Sebastian.

There was a lot of whinnying going on as all the horses settled into their new homes. The stables are in huge permanent barns with everything we need. The feed and hay has arrived and we have two tack rooms for all the kit with a fridge and freezer.

The riders fly in tonight and we are all looking forward to getting the horses ridden tomorrow and getting into a more normal routine.

It's always difficult bringing horses into USA, the regulations are so much stricter than anywhere else but we just have to do it and it’s amazing how well the horses cope.

We will keep monitoring their temperatures and blood tests will be done to make sure they are in the best health but at the moment they all look bright and happy and are tucking into their dinners!

More tomorrow!

Alan
