Team GBR grooms complete Groom Clean

As part of the preparation for the FEI World Equestrian Games, all the grooms from Equestrian Team GBR have taken part in the British Grooms Association (BGA) Groom Clean online education course.

Groom Clean is an interactive e-learning course to give learners an understanding of the importance of anti-doping and controlled medication in equestrian sports.

The course, which is sponsored by Baileys Horse Feeds is endorsed by the British Equestrian Federation, British Dressage, British Eventing and British Showjumping, and is available to help educate all within the industry, from all nations.

Executive Director of the BGA, Lucy Katan says, “An anti-doping rule violation can be life changing. A loss of medals, sponsorship, respect and even one’s business; is it really worth the risk to not ensure that every member of your team has education on how to keep clean?

If I was a competition rider, I would make gaining the Groom Clean certification mandatory for every single person that worked on my yard.”

Equestrian Team GBR dressage super groom, and BGA member Alan Davies, who works for Charlotte Dujardin said, “The BGA’s Groom Clean is an invaluable tool for all grooms. It is interesting and informative and covers all of the topics in a clear and concise manner.

Clean sport is a very serious topic so it is very important that grooms have access to this information. We have to be aware of so many regulations and also to be aware of how our horses can be affected in many different situations.”

Commenting, the British Equestrian Federation added: “Everyone involved in equestrian sport needs to understand the importance of clean sport and we are pleased that we have grooms at FEI World Equestrian Games who have undergone the training from the British Grooms Association.”

Groom Clean is part of the BGA’s online e-learning and is free to all members, membership is just £21.50 per year - join Alan and get your Groom Clean certification to boost your CV today!

Non-members from around the world can get access to this online course for just £14.50
