New Scottish Ambassadors Announced

In May 2019, alongside our friends at Horsescotland, we launched our search to find a BGA Scottish Ambassador and we are thrilled to announce that we found not one – but two brilliant ambassadors.

For the North of Scotland we would like to introduce the lovely Paige Howarth (pictured right).

Paige is a freelance groom based in Elgin, Morray and says,

I started working with horses on various yards when I was 16 when I left school, I went freelance in 2017 and since then I have been offering general yard jobs, holiday cover, show prep, schooling and more, along side competing with my own ex-race horse in dressage, showjumping and ROR showing.

I am excited to be chosen as one of the new ambassadors to represent all the freelance grooms in the north east of Scotland and also to help any other freelance grooms to have a say and find out more about what the BGA can offer.

The second fabulous groom to be recruited is Lucy Blain (pictured left).

Lucy has recently moved to Fife and alongside working for the SSPCA is also a freelance groom.
Lucy says,

I am feeling extremely privileged to be an ambassador for the BGA and to be flying the flag for grooms in Scotland, whether they are working for professional riders or caring for a herd of Highland ponies. The work the BGA does is vital to changing attitudes towards grooms and providing them with essential support to really flourish in their roles.

I am so excited to play a small part in continuing this great work and bringing some more recognition to Scottish grooms in particular who face a host of additional challenges (everywhere is the middle of nowhere up here!) within their jobs.'

Paige and Lucy join our existing team of Ambassadors. If you live in Scotland and would like to get in touch with either Paige or Lucy then get in touch with us and we can pass your email on.
