BGA issues warning as 66% of grooms report getting injured

A recent poll, run by the British Grooms Association (BGA) revealed that 66% of grooms have required time off work, due to a horse related injury.

While this figure comes as no surprise to the BGA, who report a ‘dramatic rise’ in the number of insurance related queries they are receiving, they are urging all those who work with horses to ensure they are insured with the correct policy.

It amazes me that grooms don’t insure themselves, especially in the unpredictable environment that they work in.

I think many grooms either think it won’t happen to them, or assume that they can’t afford insurance, which is just not the case.

At the BGA we advise all grooms, employed and freelancers to consider having personal accident insurance, which will help to protect their earnings should they get injured and are unable to work.

Lucy Katan, Chief Executive of the BGA.

The BGA have worked closely with KBIS to provide a trusted policy which is specifically designed for grooms, but comes at an affordable rate with a monthly payment option.
