17 year old Rachel Gordon, is the first winner of the inaugural horsescotland Groom of the Year Award.

Rachel has been working for Sarah and James Oakden, from Dunbog Farm, for over a year, and was nominated by her employers for her outstanding progress and contribution made to their busy yard in Fife.
“I am thrilled to have been nominated for this award and couldn’t believe that I won. I am so happy! Thank you for Sarah and James for nominating me, it really means a lot” said Rachel.
The award was presented by our own Liz Daniels, pictured with Rachel (left) and as part of her prize Rachel also won a year’s membership to the BGA.

The horsescotland Annual Awards recognise and reward the hard work of Scotland’s equestrian coaches, volunteers, performers, clubs, equine breeders, the equestrian business community, grooms, photographers and those that have made outstanding lifetime contributions to the equestrian community in Scotland. The BGA is delighted to be working with HorseScotland to raise awareness and the profile of grooms in Scotland.

The hugely deserving award winners were announced at the sparkling ceremony held at the Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort, Cumbernauld on Friday 4 March.
