Behind the scenes in Rio

BGA member Emily Slater is living her dream as part of Team GB in Rio !

We caught up with Kitty King's Olympic super groom....

What was it like to be in Team GB kit at the airport?
It was great being at the airport in the team kit, we kept being asked for photos and everyone was wishing is good luck.

We also had the British shooting team and rugby sevens team on our flight.

What do you think of the stables?
Stables are amazing. The team did a great job getting everything set up for our arrival, British flags flying.

How is the food?
Food has been good, typically Brazilian, lots of rice and beans!

How comfy is your bed? Are you sharing a room?
We have an apartment in block of flats for the eventing team. Me and Frankie (Pippas groom) are sharing a room. We're on the top floor and have a great view looking out across the stables and main arenas.

What does it feel to be at your first Olympic Games?
Feels very surreal, it's amazing to say I'm part of the Olympics and team GB especially in Rio

Do you get to go to the Opening Ceremony?
Unfortunately not as we start competing the following day, but they've organised in the grooms accommodation for us to watch it.

Are you nervous for when competition starts?!
Very nervous but also really excited. We have a really strong team and hopefully we can bring home the gold!

Emily is a BGA member like most of her Team GB team mates. Are you a member yet?
