GROOMS JOBS BOARD

HorseWorld runs a ground-breaking educational programme called Discovery, which supports emotional growth and learning in young people through hands-on experience with our rescued horses, ponies and donkeys. The role will mainly assist with day to day care of our  rehabilitated horses, who are suitable for our Discovery programme. There will also be the opportunity to spend time with other departments such as Equine Rehabilitation and Training and Fundraising. Main duties will consist of:

• Preparing and maintaining horses and equipment pre and post each Discovery session 
• Assisting with course activities and other tasks relating to Discovery
•  Interacting positively with participants, volunteers and visitors involved with Discovery
•  Cleaning and maintaining tack and equipment used in the Discovery project 
• Caring  and feeding of stabled and barn kept horses and horses at pasture
•  Assisting with yard duties e.g. turning out/bringing in, bathing, rug changing and skipping out paddocks  
• Carrying out daily checks of equines and carrying out other equine activities e.g. exercising or long reining etc
• Treatment of minor injuries e.g. sweet itch and foot abscesses etc
• Assisting with the vet/farrier/dentist
