Situated at the edge of Wistlandpound Reservoir, among beautiful pine forests and rippling streams, our fully accessible centre offers high quality facilities and professionally adaptive accommodation, all nestled within the rolling hills of Devons Exmoor National Park.
What we do
We are Calvert Exmoor; a registered charity providing stimulating, exciting and accessible breaks and activities for children, adults, families and groups with disabilities. We take a unique and person-centred approach to assist our guests along their journey to a more confident and empowered self, with our specially adapted centre and amazing staff team providing an inclusive attitude and atmosphere for all. At Calvert Exmoor, we prove that its what you CAN do that counts!
Calvert Exmoor Equine Centre (CEEC) is a professional riding establishment with the aim of delivering equitation to people of all abilities. We work closely with the centre to provide accessible horse experience sessions for all to enjoy.
The Role of Apprentice Groom
Our stables team are dynamic, customer-focused leaders. As a Calvert Exmoor staff member, you will be part of a fun, supportive team and will strive toward excellence.
Equine apprentices work alongside CEEC staff care for and look after horses on a daily basis to ensure that they remain healthy, happy and in good condition.
What You Will Need
Essential Personal Attributes
- Prior experience with horses (please ensure you include this in your application)
- You must be well presented
- Punctual and approachable
- Positive and solution based
- Passionate about working with and looking after horses
- Passionate about working with a variety of people with disabilities
- Happy to be out and about working in all weathers and on your feet for most of the day
- Prepared for training record keeping and completion of documentation to be outside of working hours if unable to complete them within work hours
Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience or knowledge of working with people with disabilities
- Experience of working in an equine centre
Training
- Full training to be provided by the employer and training provider at Calvert Exmoor.
- You will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom apprenticeship.
- You will be allocated a training consultant who will support you throughout the apprenticeship.
