The dates

There are two dates and the cost is £40 per person, lunch and all day refreshments included:

at Oaksey House, Lambourn, Berkshire

What does the day involve?

The days are supported by the BEF’s Excel Programme, funded by Sport England and include presentations and workshops designed to help riders who already run, or are thinking of starting, their own business. This offers a rare and valuable opportunity to ask questions of the experts about your own situation, get the correct information “from the horses’ mouth” and learn how other professional riders have implemented new ways of doing things in a practical and workable way.

Subjects covered include:

  • “Getting it Right” Inspirational Talk from Daniel Sherriff, International Dressage Rider (Northern Racing College only) and Kitty King, Olympic Event Rider (Oaksey House Only).
  • Getting and keeping Sponsors through PR and social media with Lucy Johnson, Event rider PR consultant
  • Balancing the Books – fool proof basic accounting with Laura Butler of Butlers Accountants
  • Getting the right staff with Lucy Katan of the British Grooms Association (BGA)
  • Transporting horses overseas with Sheila Duckworth from Shelley Ashman International

Each attendee will get free access to the BGA’s Online employers Zone (worth £29.50), which holds a wealth of verified, up to date information. It addresses the questions that every employer needs to deal with, from recruiting to discipline and termination, employment facts, sickness and employee relation and is a must for any potential business owner in the equine industry.
