A GROOMS LIFE BLOG
We are delighted that the BGA has been selected as a finalist in the Innovation category for the 2015 Association Excellence Awards. The BGA are delighted that once again the annual British Groom Awards are back, thanks to the generosity of sponsors Haddon Training. This year there were two new categories; the Haddon Training British Grooms Award and the Haddon Training Team GBR Grooms Award. Last night, December 14th, saw BGA Member Jackie Potts being crowned FEI Best Groom 2014 at a lavish ceremony in Baku. As the British winter takes its hold over the past couple of weeks, many grooms and riders will be putting the final touches to their preparations for travelling to to Spain for the Spanish Sunshine Tour. We all know how awesome our grooms are and the FEI Best Groom Award seeks to highlight those grooms who really go above and beyond for their horses and riders. We caught up with the three finalists to find out a bit more about them.

What the personal accident policy covers you for:
- Whilst at work
- All stable duties – mucking out, grooming, washing off, turning out
- Clipping
- Riding – including hacking and jumping
- Hunting
- Lunging
- Breaking in
- Holding horse for a vet and other procedures
- Travelling horses both in the UK and abroad
- Competing in line with your job including: jumping, dressage, eventing
- Injuries that may happen to you whilst you are teaching - but you must also be grooming as part of your duties and not be a sole instructor
What the personal accident policy doesn’t cover you for:
- Riding in a race, point to point or team chase
- Stunt Riding
- Accidents occurring whilst travelling to and from work
- Riding and competing your own horse (but you can upgrade when applying for membership to include this)
- Public Liability – this is a separate insurance policy - the Freelance Groom Liability Insurance
- Care Custody and Control – this is a separate policy - the Freelance Groom Liability Insurance
